Vernon L. "Vernie" Schwarck, 92, of Wapakoneta died at 6:40 a.m. Tuesday January 5, 2016 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
He was born on March 19, 1923 in Moulton Township to Walter C. & Martha (Miars) Schwarck who preceded him in death. On January 5, 1943 he married Betty L. Martin and she survives in Wapakoneta.
Survivors include 2 children; Judy (Jack) McCormick of Archbold, John Schwarck of Wapakoneta, 5 grandchildren Chris Schwarck, Holly (Guy) Hut, Erin Kristoff, Jennifer Kruse, Stacey Painter, 4 great-grandchildren Ashley (Nick Fisher) Schwarck, Ryan Schwarck, Ridge Hut and Cassie Kristoff.
He was preceded in death by a daughter Marceil Painter.
Vernie attended school at Weimert School and Blume High School. He was a lifelong farmer and a steward of the soil. He was one of the founding charter members of St. Johns Volunteer Fire Department in 1955. He was also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Moulton. He and his wife Betty enjoyed traveling to Florida and the Smokey Mountains and going on trips with the senior citizens. On January 5, 2016 they celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary.
Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday January 9, 2016 at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Pastor David Coffin will be officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
