Tom A. Smith

Tom A. Smith, 80, of Wapakoneta, passed away on Tuesday April 24, 2018 at Mercy Health-St. Rita’s, Lima.
He was born on June 21, 1937 in Wapakoneta to Harry & Leona (Headapohl) Smith who preceded him in death. On January 5, 1963 he married Jane A. Smith and she passed away on June 29, 2017.
Survivors include three children, Scott (Heather) Smith of Michigan, Roger (Julie) Smith, Jessica Smith both of Wapakoneta; 7 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Keith Andrew Smith; two brothers Dr. Ned Smith, Jack E. Smith and a sister Jane Parsons.
He went to work at Smith Brothers Electric, the family business and then on April 1, 1946 he purchased the family business with his older brother Jack and together they ran it successfully until his retirement on January 1, 1992. He was also a member of the Wapakoneta Fire Auxiliary for 25 years.
Per his wishes there will be no public visitation or services.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to St. Rita’s Hospice.
The family has entrusted Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services to handle the arrangements.
