Theodore E. "Tex" Hemleben, 88, of Wapakoneta passed away at 12:48 a.m. Thursday August 4, 2016 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
He was born in Dayton, Ohio on June 4, 1928 to Jeanette (Green) and Ernest J. Hemleben who both preceded him in death.
On September 26, 1953 he married Helen Frost and she passed away on April 6, 2011.
He is survived by eight children; Ted (Dawn) Hemleben, Tim (Teri) Hemleben, Therese (Jay) Hathaway, Tom (Julie) Hemleben, Polly (Vincent) Lyons, Thad Hemleben, Kate Hemleben, Mike (Bretta) Hemleben; nine grandchildren Chrissy Dunnifon, T.J., Danielle, Samantha, Nick, Sophia, Vincent, Michael, and Hayley Hemleben; three great grandchildren; and a sister Marie Langstaff; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by sister, Wanda Lee Loper, a daughter in law April Hemleben and a granddaughter Grace Hemleben.
Tex graduated from Vandalia-Bulter High School in 1946 where he scored the first recorded touchdown at the new football stadium. Early in his career he was a farmer where he planted over 200 maple trees and ran a maple sugar farm in Bellefontaine with his father. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After moving to Wapakoneta, he worked at Peterson Construction Company. In the early 1970's, Tex started Hemleben Construction Company pouring thousands of yards of concrete.
A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Charles Catholic Church, Lima. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Wapakoneta.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the St. Charles Borromeo Parish 2200 W. Elm St. Lima, OH 45805.
