Ted A. Schnell, 87, of Wapakoneta passed away Tuesday July 12, 2016 at 1:25 p.m. at his residence.
He was born in Wapakoneta on November 8, 1928 to Bob W. & Deloris M. (Hirschfeld) Schnell who have preceded him death. On June 18, 1955 he married Joanne L. Lunz and she survives in Wapakoneta.
Survivors also include a daughter and son; Kris (Jeff) Beane, T. Kevin (Linda) Schnell both of Wapakoneta, 4 grandchildren Amy (Sean) Runkel of Wapakoneta, Andy (Julie) Beane of Troy, David (Abbey Mooney) Schnell of Cincinnati, Erin Schnell of Wapakoneta, 2 step great-grandchildren Cameron, Layla, a sister-in-law Joy Lynn Schnell of Ft. Worth, TX, 2 brother and sister-in-laws Glen and Ruth Ann Hines of Wapakoneta, Loren and Ann Lunz of Cridersville, numerous nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother Tom C. Schnell and a brother-in-law Kenneth Lunz.
Ted was a 1946 graduate of Blume High School. Following graduation he attended The Ohio State University before being drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After returning he became a co-owner of The Brunswick and retired in 1986. He was a member of the Elks and V.F.W. Post 8445. He was an avid Ohio State football and basketball fan, and loved to keep up with the Cincinnati Reds. He was a life member of St. Paul United Church of Christ. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and grandkids were his main love of life. He loved family travels and spending time with his family. He was a very kind, loving and humble man who always put all others before himself.
Memorial services will begin at 3:00 p.m. Sunday July 17, 2016 at St. Paul United Church of Christ with Rev. Becky Sunday officiating. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service in the Timmermeister Hall at the church. Military rites will be performed by the V.F.W. Post 8445 following the service.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to St. Paul United Church of Christ, St. Rita's Hospice or KSL Charities for cancer.
