Ted Lewis Endel Sr., 84, of St. Marys died at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday September 30, 2014 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
He was born on July 29, 1930 in Toledo, OH to Clifford F. & Ruth Mae (Barker) Endel who preceded him in death.
On March 5, 1955 he married Marjorie Joan Johnson and she survives in St. Marys.
Survivors also include 4 children; Bonnie L. (Tim) Binkley of Celina, Becky Lee Endel of Floresville, TX, Barbara L. (Mirjam Dekker) Endel PhD. of Mainesville, OH, Ted L. (Kelly S.) Endel of Waynesfield, 5 grandchildren Tim Binkley Jr., Mark Allen, Lydia Endel-McCoy, Dr. Doug Endel, Jenny N. Burgoon, 8 great-grandchildren Logan, Hannah, Taylor and Ben Binkley, Austin Burgoon, Parker Endel, Abby Burgoon, Campbell Endel, 3 brothers Ron Oder, Bob Carman and Chuck Carman.
He was preceded in death by 2 brothers Dick Oder and Carl Carman Jr.
Ted spent his childhood growing up in Harrod, OH. He served 20 plus years in the United States Army during post WWII in Japan, with the 82nd Airborne Division during the Korean Conflict and as a Chief of the Hawk Missile Battalion during the Viet Nam War. He then retired to Dover, TN where he spent the next 15 years of his life involved in the community and volunteering. He was also a member of the Ft. Donnelson Memorial United Methodist Church and a lifelong member of the V.F.W. Ted had a terrific sense of humor and always enjoyed a good joke. He was also an avid fisherman. He especially enjoyed raising his family and being a family man.
Funeral services are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Saturday October 4, 2014 at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 615 N. Dixie Hwy., Wapakoneta. Rev. Jean Horn will be officiating. Burial will follow at Willow Branch Cemetery, Waynesfield where military rites will be performed by the V.F. W. Post 9289. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday and 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
