Shirley F. Denig, 86, of Wapakoneta, passed away at 12:00 p.m. Thursday January 12, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her family.
She was born in Clay Township on February 13, 1930 to Karl & Cleo (Miller) Schultz who preceded her in death. On July 11, 1948 she married Jack R. Denig and he passed away on July 20, 1987.
Survivors include a son and daughter; Gary Denig of Branson, MO, Trissa (Charlie) Chapman of Hillsboro, OH 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, a brother Max (Linda) Schultz, a sister-in-law Eileen Schultz and a close friend Gary Oakman, Wapakoneta.
She was preceded in death by a 4 brothers and a sister; Don, Herman, Marilyn, Wayne and Bob.
Shirley was a 1947 graduate of Blume High School. She retired after 27 years of service as a cook for the Wapakoneta City Schools. She enjoyed baking, especially graduation and wedding cakes along with knitting, quilting and crocheting. She also enjoyed playing cards. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Memorial services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Saturday January 21, 2017 at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta with Pastor Gregory Roberts officiating and burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery, Uniopolis. Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
