Roselyn M. "Rosie" Shockey, 88, of Wapakoneta passed away the evening of June 12, 2016 at her home. She was born on June 15, 1927, Wapakoneta to Robert & Leona (Wessel) Byrne who have preceded her in death. On November 8, 1947, she married Edward L. "Ed" Shockey, and he passed away on April 21, 2016. Together they shared 68 years of marriage.
Rosie was a 1945 graduate of St. Joseph High School. She will be remembered as a sweet, kind and easy going person who loved animals especially dogs. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she sang in the choir and attended Bible studies. She loved traveling with her husband Ed and watching the Ohio State Buckeyes play. She also enjoyed doing ceramics and painting but, most of all she loved her grandchildren.
Survivors also include two daughters, Darlene M. & Gary Binkley, and Sharon A. & William Sammetinger, both of Wapakoneta; a daughter-in-law, Esther Shockey, of West Virginia; eight grandchildren, Benjamin & Karin Shockey, Meghan & Joshua Welch, Charis Taylor, Amy Dils, Kyle Binkley, Craig & Cindy Sammetinger, Christopher & Jenny Sammetinger, and Nicholas & Jenna (Aller) Sammetinger and fifteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, Roger, two brothers Delbert and Richard Byrne and a sister Marjorie Byrne.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 17, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta. Rev. Patrick Sloneker will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
