Ronald Logan Banks, 68, passed away May 1, 2018 at 4:50 p.m. at St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo. A self-proclaimed hillbilly, Ron was born September 3, 1949 in Hazard, Kentucky, to Logan and Hazel Caudill Banks. On October 20, 1984 he married Jean A. Tippie, Ron was her biggest fan.
In addition to his wife, Ron is survived by his son, Curtis L. Banks, of Wapakoneta; three grandchildren, Brendon, Mya, and Riley; sister, Marty (Ron) Hamilton, of Enon; brother-in-law, Bruce Finney, of Wapakoneta; numerous nieces and nephews; and his fur-buddy, Remie.
He was welcomed into Heaven by his parents; two sons, Steven and Kevin; and sister, Mary Finney.
In true hillbilly fashion, Ron could fix anything, as long as he had his trusty Gorilla Glue and duct tape. In his younger years, Ron loved bowling and softball, but fishing was his favorite. Catching, cleaning, and cooking were three things Ron excelled at and he loved sharing his fish frys. When the weather wasn’t fit or the fish weren’t biting, Ron passed the time playing cards, usually in the company of his pal, Remie.
He was a member of the Evening Light Tabernacle and will be remembered for his complete willingness to help anyone. He was constantly opening his heart, offering a car ride or a place to stay, to someone in need, especially those who had been turned down by others. It was in this giving that Ron was his true self. He loved his Lord above all else, and it was through this willingness to serve others, that Ron was able to share his story. The great gift Ron leaves behind is the seed that he planted in the hearts of the people he helped.
