Robert F. "Bob" Martin, 67, of Wapakoneta, passed away at 5:24 p.m. Monday, February 6, 2017, at St. Rita's Medical Center. Bob was born on August 12, 1949, in Lima, to John & Betty (Kimmel) Martin, who have preceded him in death, along with his step-father, George Gerstner.
Bob is survived by his two daughters, Sherry Burden, of Sidney, and Sheila Martin, of Neptune; three step-children, Brian Kinstle, Milissa Gibson, and Trina McCullough; four grandchildren, Chelsea, Leah, Gaig, and Jenna; one great-granddaughter, Aiyana; three siblings, Joyce & Donny Sheipline, John & Becky Martin, and Vic Martin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Karen Pack and Jean Schneider.
Bob proudly served in the United States Army, during Viet Nam, with the artillery gun crew. After 27 years of service as a carrier, he retired from the United States Post Office. Bob was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Am Vets, and the American Legion, where he held the office of Post Commander. In his free time, he loved to ride his Harley Davidson, especially with the American Legion Riders.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 11, 2017 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Glynwood. Father Barry Stechschulte will officiate. Burial will follow in the church's St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery, with military rites provided by the V.F.W. Post 8445. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta. Memorial contributions may be made to the Auglaize County Humane Society.
