Robert A. "Bob" Heitz, 84, of Wapakoneta died at 9:30 A.M. August 2, 2010 at his residence surrounded by his family.
He was born May 16, 1926 in Fort Jennings, Ohio to Otto & Rose (Stauterman) Heitz who preceded him in death. On June 29, 1949 he married Dorothy Kaverman who survives in Wapakoneta.
Mr. Heitz was a farmer and owner of Heitz Electric & Plumbing and Heitz Dairy Supply for over 50 years. He was also a Navy veteran of World War II, a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Survivors also include ten children; John (Rosa) Heitz of Mato Grosso, Brazil, David (Debra) Heitz, Jean (Stephen) Hull, Gregory Heitz, Marilyn (Robert) Schmerge, Steven (Laura Nicol) Heitz, Judy (Craig) Opperman, and Nicholas (Lisa) Heitz all of Wapakoneta, Nancy (Phillip) Scott of Harrisburg, PA and Christine (Orlando) Antolin of Westerville, OH; 29 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; four sisters Catherine Heitz, Mary (Virgil) German, Joan (George) Ross, Betty Grace, and a brother Rev. Louis Heitz.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, two brothers Frank and Ralph Heitz, and a brother-in-law Oris Grace.
Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled to begin at 10:00 A.M. Saturday August 7, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rev. Louis Heitz and Rev. Matthew Lee will be con-celebrating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery with military rites being performed by the V.F.W. Post 9289. Friends may call from 2-8 P.M. Friday at Schlosser Funeral Home, 615 N. Dixie Hwy., Wapakoneta.
