Robert E. "Bob" Fleck, 73, passed away at 1:45 p.m. April 17, 2015 at the Hospice In-Patient Center in Van Wert.
Bob was born on November 29, 1941 in Wapakoneta to Gilbert and Mary Stiles Fleck. He was raised by his mother and step-father, Clarence "Slim" Dorsten in Uniopolis. They have all preceded him in death.
On October 31, 1964, in Canada, he married Marilyn Ford. She survives in Uniopolis.
He is also survived by three sons, Robert "Bobby" & Karen Fleck, Darren Todd & Betty Fleck, and Chad & Tammy Fleck; eight grandchildren, Erin, Bradley, Zachary, Jared, Sarina, Abigail, Jessica, and Janeva Fleck; a brother, Arthur & Linda Fleck; two sisters, Loretta & Al Presnell and Jean & Tom Bushnell; three step-brothers, Jim Dorsten, Ron & Mildred Dorsten, and Danny Lee & Jean Dorsten; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bob was also preceded in death by a brother, Larry Fleck; grandson, Elijah Fleck; and three brothers-in-law, Allen Ford, Gary Ford, and Douglas Sawyer.
A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Bob served our country from 1960-1964. His ship was active during the Cuban Crisis. In recognition of Bob's service, his son Todd had presented him with a National Defense Medal and Naval Unit Commendation. A Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 8445, Bob served the VFW by being active in their Honor Guard.
Bob retired from General Dynamics Tank Plant and also the Uniopolis Volunteer Fire Department. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends, and saw it fit to pass those passions on to his sons. However, his true love was his family, and he enjoyed every moment with his grandchildren.
Services will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 615 N. Dixie Highway, Wapakoneta, Ohio 45895. Rev. Josh Andrews will officiate and interment will follow in Fairmount Cemetery, Uniopolis. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Uniopolis Youth Group, Carpenters for Christ; the VFW Post 8445; the Uniopolis Volunteer Fire Department; or the Van Wert Hospice In-Patient Center, Van Wert.
