Paul E. Waitman, 86, of Wapakoneta died at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday February 2, 2016 at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima.
He was born on November 2, 1929 in Union Township, Auglaize County to Glenn L. & Lucille A. (Gossard) Waitman who preceded him in death. On September 6, 1950 he married Joretta L. Place and she survives in Wapakoneta.
Survivors also include 3 daughters and a son; Julia (Dan) Barton of Waynesfield, Peggy (Tom) Myers of Lakeview, Robert (Jeanie) Waitman of Waynesfield, Lara Hayes of Lima, 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson Eric D. Hayes, a great-grandson Zachary Hayes, 2 brothers Richard (Pearl) Waitman, Loren (Linda) Waitman, and a sister Carol (Carl) Kinstle.
Paul was a 1947 graduate of Waynesfield High School. He worked with his brother Richard on their family farm. He also drove semi for Wilcox Stockyards, Burden Trucking and Cummings Grain. He was a member of the Waynesfield Baptist Church. He enjoyed traveling, especially to the Great Lakes where he was an avid fisherman. He was also an office manager and tax preparer for Jackson Hewitt in Sarasota, FL.
Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday February 5, 2016 at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta. Pastor Don Smith will be officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery, Uniopolis. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Waynesfield Baptist Church or to the Auglaize Acres Memory Unit.
