Paul E. Bishop, 67, of Wapakoneta died at 10:43 p.m. January 11, 2010 at Wapakoneta Manor after fighting a valiant battle against cancer.
Mr. Bishop was born October 13, 1942 to Hiram and Dora (Hammond) Bishop in Gate City, Virginia who preceded him in death. On April 23, 1965 he married Connie J. Messer who survives in Wapakoneta.
Mr. Bishop is also survived by two daughters; Athena K. (Richard) Masuda-Bond of Manassas, Virginia and Christie L. Greeno of Delta, Ohio; 4 grandchildren; Dominick White, Shane Masuda, Marshall Bond, and Austin Bond; 2 brothers; Lionel and R.L. Bishop; 4 sisters; Nora Vayo, Mattie Wooten, Shirley Barker, and Phyllis Morris.
He was preceded in death by a brother Cecil Bishop.
Mr. Bishop graduated in 1961 from Gate City High School in Virginia. He then attended the Hobart School of Welding in Troy, Ohio. He retired from General Dynamics in 1993 as a welder, and then went to work for Celina Aluminum Precision and Tool, retiring in 2008. He was also member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He enjoyed hunting and especially fishing. He also enjoyed eating out at his favorite restaurants. He was an avid baseball card collector and enjoyed spending time with his friends and grandchildren and walking his dog Buddy to the park.
A Memorial service will be held Friday January 15, 2010 at 3 p.m. at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 615 N. Dixie Hwy. Wapakoneta. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. The Rev. Patrick L. Sloneker will be officiating. Burial of the cremains will be at a later date.
