Orva C. Smallwood 94, of Wapakoneta died at 3:00 P.M. September 26, 2011 at Cridersville Otterbein.
She was born March 26, 1917 in Wapakoneta to Orval & Grace (Huffer) Cannon who preceded her in death. In August of 1935 she married John L. Smallwood who died in September of 1985.
She is survived by two sons; Richard A. (Mary E.) Smallwood of Lima and William D. (Darlene K.) Smallwood of Wapakoneta, 5 grandchildren Dale (Lynne) Smallwood, Dawn Smallwood, Andrea (John) Evans, Tracy (Tim) Nance, and David (Lynn) Smallwood, 10 great-grandchildren Jordan Nance, Preston Nance, Dustin Nance, Devon Nance, Alex Evans, Zachary Evans, Payton Amstutz, Tyler Amstutz, Susan Smallwood, and Scott Smallwood, and one great-great-grandson Jayden Nance.
She was preceded in death by four sisters Veronica Rogers, Yvonne Cannon, Althea Holtzapple, and Doris Chiles.
Orva was a 1935 graduate of Blume High School. She worked for the Wapakoneta City Schools as head of the cafeterias. She was a member of St. Paul U.C.C. in Wapakoneta. She enjoyed her retirement at Randall Lake in Coldwater, Michigan and then returned to Wapakoneta in 1985. She especially enjoyed playing all kinds of card games and fishing.
Memorial services are scheduled to begin at 8:00 P.M. Thursday at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services 615 N. Dixie Hwy., Wapakoneta. Pastor Joe Pumphrey will be officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Resthaven Memorial Gardens near Moulton. Friends may call from 6:00 P.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the donor's choice.
