Mitchell Aaron Metz

Mitchell Aaron Metz, 46, of Botkins, Ohio, passed away at 11:23 p.m., Sunday, July 28, 2024 at Mercy Health-St. Rita's, Lima.  He was born on May 18, 1978 in Lima, OH to Emerson and Janet (Hagelberger) Metz.  His father passed away on June 22, 2020 and his mother survives in Botkins.

Survivors also include a sister, Kimberly (Jeff) Lee; two brothers, Kelly (Jenna) Metz and Jeff (Andrea) Metz; five nieces and nephews, Bryce Metz, Marcus Lee, Brant Metz, Jana Metz, Paxton Metz; and close friends, Tom Braddock, Max Smith, and Ryon Elmore.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Metz.

Mitchell was a 1996 graduate of Botkins High School and then attended Wright State University and The Ohio State University, where he obtained a Master's Degree in Education.  He taught history and social studies at Currituck Middle School in North Carolina.  A selfless teacher, Mitchell was dedicated to his students and their education. When not in the classroom, he enjoyed playing darts and cards, going golfing, or watching OSU football and Cincinnati Reds baseball.  His nieces and nephews will always treasure their memories with Uncle Mitchell.

Family and friends may visit from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, August 1, 2024 at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta.  A private family funeral service will be held at St. Jacob's Lutheran Church with burial following at New Loramie Valley Cemetery, Botkins.  Memorial contributions may be directed to Mercy Health Hospice, Lima.
