Mildred I. Tangeman 81, of Wapakoneta, died at 3:32 A.M. June 4 2009, at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima.
She was born July 20, 1927 in Allen County to Martin J. and Minnie E. (Brown) Sunderland who both preceded her in death. In 1948, she married Robert F. Tangeman who died November 6, 1970.
Mrs. Tangeman had been a custodian formerly at Bank One and retired as a custodian from the Auglaize County Courthouse on March 31, 1995 after 13 years of service. She enjoyed gardening and working in her yard. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed working on crossword puzzles and word searches. She attended Buckland High School and is a member of the Buckland United Church of Christ.
Survivors include 5 daughters; Roberta (Larry) Stolzenburg, Darlene (John) Kaeck, Carolyn (James P.) Metz, Jean (Ed) Meckstroth, and Sharon (Jeffery) Johnson, all of Wapakoneta; 3 sisters, Vera (Leonard) Elshoff of Spencerville, Waneta (Joe) Meier of Cridersville, and Carol (Lee) Klima, of Wapakoneta; a sister-in-law, Frankie Sunderland of St. Mary's; 3 Brothers Vernon Sunderland of Lima, Charles (Marsha) Sunderland of Spencerville, and Roger (Dolores) Sunderland of Wapakoneta; 6 grandchildren Kelli (Eric) Barnes, Lori (Michael) Taylor, John Kaeck II, Anthony "A.J." Shappell, Eric (Lynn Marchal) Meckstroth, and Jill Meckstroth all of Wapakoneta; 3 step-grandchildren Zackery, Seth, and Olivia Johnson of Wapakoneta; 5 great-grandsons, Cole, Blake, and Carson Barnes, Jaden Kaeck, and Noah Taylor; and several nieces, nephews and in-laws.
She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Carl (Minnie) Sunderland and Harold "Dutch" Sunderland, 1 sister, Ruth (Bob) Meeker and a son-in-law Dan Shappell.
Services will begin at 10:30 A.M. Monday at Buckland United Church of Christ. The Rev. Jeanette Tangeman will officiate. Burial will follow at the Buckland Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2-8 Sunday at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 615 N. Dixie Hwy, Wapakoneta, and one hour prior to the services Monday at the church.
