Michael J. Seitz

Michael J. Seitz, 62, of Wapakoneta, passed away at 8:39 p.m. Sunday, March 12, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his wife and daughters.
He was born on June 5, 1954 in Lima, OH to Eldon & Joan (Brockert) Seitz. His father preceded him in death and his mother survives in Wapakoneta.
On February 28, 1984 he married Deb Snider who survives in Wapakoneta.
Survivors also include 5 children; Kent Hoel of Sandusky, Diandra (Mark) Jeanneret of Lima, Julli (Mike) Griesheimer of Waynesfield, Kyla Humes of Cridersville, Dylan (Ashley) Seitz of Rushylvania, 8 grandchildren Nathan Hoel, Amber Douglas, Allie Chiles, Audesy Bice, Brayden, Boden, Brantley and Blake Humes, 5 brothers and sisters Lindy (Ted) Austin, Steve (Deb) Seitz, Chuck Seitz, Judy (Tony) Lochard and Tom Seitz.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter Zaire Oliphant, 2 sisters Michelle and Barb Seitz, a brother Fred Seitz and best friend Reuben Huggins.
Michael was a 1973 graduate of Wapakoneta Senior High School. He then graduated from the Culinary Institute of America, New York in 1977. He worked at Emerson Technologies, Sidney for 19 ½ years as the general manager chef and operating the cafeteria. Mike was a talented man who enjoyed carving ice sculptures and catering special occasions. An avid hunter and fishermen, his friends referred to him as "The Game Hog". He was a member of Wapakoneta Baptist Church. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. His family believes they were the motivation behind his will to fight for so long.
Funeral services will begin at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta where Rev. Eric McDunnell will officiate. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service. It was Michael's wishes to have his body donated The University of Toledo Medical Center in hopes of finding a cure for Scleroderma.
