Mark A. Miller, 58, of Waynesfield, unexpectedly passed away at 7:29 p.m., Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Lima Memorial Health System. He was born on August 23, 1964 in Bluffton, to Ronald A. Miller and Emma J. Widok Miller Holtzapple who have preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Julie A. Miller, of Lima; his fiance, Autumn Longworth, of Waynesfield; four children, Kayla Tracey, of Lima, Karstin (Shawn Schick) Byrd, of Cleveland, Ethan (Emma) Miller, of Waynesfield, Evan Miller, of Waynesfield; Autumn's children, Isiah and Gauge Weinstock; two granddaughters, Cheyenne Snider and Adelyn Miller, plus one more grandchild "on the way"; his sister, Beth (Tucker) Bebinger, of Largo, Florida; his nieces and nephew, Chelsea Knapp, Collin Knapp, Pyper Bebinger; and an extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins, especially his mother-in-law, Marcia Hengstler, of St. Johns.
Mark graduated from Lima Central Catholic High School in 1983. In the fall of 1984, Mark enlisted with the United States Navy. He proudly served as a Radioman on the USS American (CV-66). The Navy also gave him his first involvement in the Emergency Medical Services, serving as an EMT-B. Following his Honorable Discharge in 1987, Mark received his Paramedic Certification through Rhodes State College in 1993. Since then, Mark has served numerous communities by running as a Paramedic with LACP, Indian Lake EMS, and most recently Wayne Township Fire & Rescue, where he was the EMS Chief. Always a mentor, he was also a Paramedic Instructor at Rhodes State College.
Mark was also active in the local racing community, as he served as Track Paramedic and Gridman for the Cridersville Speedway and Waynesfield Raceway Park. He attended Quest Community Church, Russells Point and was a member of the Lima VFW Post 1275. Never one to sit still, Mark enjoyed traveling. Although he was very active in the community, always serving others, his true treasure was the love of his family.
Services will begin at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 30, 2022 at the Waynesfield-Goshen Local School gymnasium. Lima Memorial Health System Chaplain Jed Brake will officiate. Interment will follow in Willow Branch Cemetery, Waynesfield, with military honors by the United States Navy and the Wapakoneta VFW Post 8445. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Saturday at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wayne Township Fire & Rescue.
