Margaret Bernadine Hutchinson, 98, of Wapakoneta, died 4:33 p.m., Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at The Gardens of Wapakoneta. She was born December 29, 1925, in Leipsic, the daughter of the late Hubert & Frances (Schroeder) Niese. 

On July 12, 1974, she married Harold “Bud” Hutchinson and he preceded her in death on October 30, 1980. 

She is survived by a sister, Ardella “Della” Oksanen of Wapakoneta and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Linus “Dick”, Matt, Al, Bob, Gil, and infant William Niese; and sisters, Millie Bowsher, Edna Williams, and Theresa Nagel.

Margaret was a 1943 graduate of St. Joseph High School. She then attended the Sisters of the Precious Blood Convent in Dayton, where she professed her vows, becoming Sister Mary Elaine. Her vocation took her many places, serving as a school teacher from Arizona to Michigan. After over two decades, Margaret retired and reentered her secular life. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and enjoyed playing the accordion.

Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 23, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Sean Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Wapakoneta. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
