Lura M. "Sue" Kantner, 96, of Wapakoneta died at 9:50 a.m. Friday October 17, 2014 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
She was born on October 15, 1918 in Anna, OH to J.W. & Emma (Zwiebel) Heiland who preceded her in death.
On November 13, 1937 she married Eugene "Gene" Kantner and he passed away on November 11, 1980.
She is survived by two children; Emma Lou (Ken) Coleman of Wapakoneta, Donald R. (JoAnn) Kantner of Sanborn, NY, a daughter-in-law Carlene (Ken) Koch of Wapakoneta, 11 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren, 3 sisters Alvina Brandt, Donna Short, Hilda (Al) Nance and many nieces and nephews scattered all over the U.S.A.
She was preceded in death by 2 children; Sharon JoAnn Kantner and Fritz Kantner, brothers, sisters and in-laws, Roy (Frieda) Heiland, Clarence (Louise) Heiland, Wilbur (Eileen) Heiland, Donald Brandt, Gordon Short, Norma (Finkenbine) Reed, Julia (Ray) Biddle, and grandsons Dennis and Cliff Jr. Butler.
Lura was a cafeteria manager and head cook at United Local School, St. Johns for 5 years. She also worked as an assistant manager at Wright's 5 & 10 Store, rental manager at Miller's Textile and secretary and treasurer of Kantner Plumbing & Heating for 25 years. She was also a 4-H leader, member of St. Paul U.C.C., Wapakoneta and a volunteer at Northridge School. Her hobbies were knitting and quilting which she loved. She made many lap robes and Afghans which she gave away because she loved doing it. She also enjoyed playing card and baking cinnamon rolls which she also gave away to her friends. She especially enjoyed traveling and spending time with her children, family and friends.
Memorial services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday October 21, 2014 at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta. Pastor Becky Sunday will be officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at a later date at Greenlawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to St. Paul U.C.C. or donor's choice.
