Louise Jung, 89, of Wapakoneta, passed away peacefully at 2:53 a.m., Friday, May 17, 2024.  She was born on January 14, 1935 to (James) Pete and Lula (May) Bayes on Jenny's Creek, Swamp Branch, KY, following just a few minutes behind her twin sister, Lorene (McCool, deceased). Survivors include her daughter, Anne E. Jung, of Huber Heights; brother, Jack Bayes, of Mansfield; and an extended family of nieces and nephews.  She became the mother and grandmother figure for her nieces, Candace McCool-Gill and Susan McCool, and great-nieces, Rowan and Maeve.

The twins grew up surrounded by 5 siblings and a large extended family. Their parents encouraged their education and she became an avid reader.  Louise graduated salutatorian of her class in Oil Springs, KY, with Lorene, who was valedictorian.

The twins moved to Ohio in the 1950s for work and to be closer to their older siblings.  Louise was a hard worker and quickly found employment in the insurance industry.  During this time, she met John Jung while taking dancing lessons at the Arthur Murray dance studio. They married on September 14, 1963 and had a daughter, Anne, in 1968.  Louise chose to be a stay-at-home Mom but kept busy as a home room mother and church volunteer. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Wapakoneta, Ohio.  She taught Sunday school, served on the church council, a term as council President, and worked as the Church Financial Secretary for several years.

Following the death of her husband, John, and her sister Lorene in 1982/3, Louise returned to the workforce full time as an insurance agent at J C Penney's.  She was passionate about her career and proud of providing her customers with the best possible care. She became the neighborhood Allstate agent in Wapakoneta in 1987, where she remained until she retired at 65. She then went to work for the Stolly Insurance Group, becoming the Office Manager in their Wapak Branch.  She worked another 20 years before retiring again at the age of 87. She was proud of having been in the industry for nearly 60 years.

Louise was devoted to her family and was a good listener.  She was the person family members called to share news, good or bad, and to ask advice.  An active aunt, she was a big part of her nieces and nephews' lives.  When enjoying quiet time, Louise could be found reading.  She learned to sew and quilt from her mother and grandmothers, a tradition she continued throughout her life.  Surrounded by animal lovers, she learned to appreciate (or at least tolerate) the furry additions to her life.

Funeral Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Wapakoneta.  Due to the Perry Street road closure, please park in the church parking lot.  A luncheon in the Church Timmermeister Hall will immediately follow the funeral before the committal service takes place in Schwaberow Cemetery, Kettlersville.  Family and friends may visit from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.  Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society.  Condolences may be expressed at www.schlosserfuneralhome.com
