Lois A. Schumann, 81, of Wapakoneta passed away at 1:45 p.m. Friday April 8, 2016 at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima following a brief illness surround by her family with her husband holding her hand.
She was born in Wapakoneta on August 1, 1934 to Alfred C. & Edith (Smith) Lunz who preceded her in death. On June 7, 1952 she married Orville L. Schumann and he survives in Wapakoneta.
Survivors include 5 children; Sheryl (Ron) Laman, Dennis Schumann both of Wapakoneta, Eric Schumann of FL, Gayle (Chris) Schneider, Bruce (Tracy) Schumann both of Wapakoneta, 5 grandchildren Kellie (Larry) Byers, Jenny (Matt) McDorman, Kristin (Jeramie) Werling, Jared (Tiffany) Schumann, Justin (Rachel) Schumann, 11 great-grandchildren, a brother George (Nancy) Lunz, a sister Sharon (Quentin) Woehler, 2 sister-in-laws Dr. Dorothy Woolley, Marjorie Lane, several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother-in-law Paul Lane.
Lois alongside her husband owned and operated a hog and dairy farm. Lois began milking cows when she was 3 ½ years old. They retired in 1999 after 63 years of operation. She was a life member of St. John's Lutheran Church where she was a Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of The Ladies Aid and the Tuesday Morning Bible Study group. She enjoyed working outside and growing flowers. She always enjoyed having dogs especially "Pepper." She will be greatly missed by her family that she dearly loved.
Funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m. Monday April 11, 2016 at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Rev. Kurt Klingbeil will be officiating. Burial will follow at the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Pusheta Road.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the St. John's Lutheran Church, St. Johns Volunteer Fire & Rescue or to the Auglaize County Humane Society.
