Linda A. Petty 69, of Wapakoneta formerly of Carthage, MO, died August 20, 2012 at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton.
She was born March 23, 1943 in Dayton to Richard & Helen (Althouse) Longenecker. Her father preceded her in death and her mother survives in Sidney.
On February 20, 1962 she married Tony D. Petty and he survives in Wapakoneta.
Survivors also include; 2 daughters Tammy A. Hecht of Lima, Kathy J. (Wayne) Ditson of Celina, a son Dwayne R. (Tami) Petty of Carl Junction, MO, 8 grandchildren Joi (Dave) Ferckel, Perry J. (Alicia) Lighty, Lindeva M. Rosario, Tony S. (Cyndi) Lighty, Sherri A. (Tristan) Miles, Christopher R. Osborne, Ashlee Petty, Joshua Petty, 12 great-grandchildren, 1 brother, and 3 sisters.
Mrs. Petty was a 1960 graduate of Franklin Monroe High School, Darke County. She was employed with J.C. Penny for over a decade. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church Carthage, MO and Delphos Baptist Church, Delphos. She enjoyed huck weaving, camping, traveling, and especially loved cooking and baking. She and her husband have traveled to all the lower 48 states and wintered in Tampa, FL. She was always a very sociable person and never knew a stranger. For over 30 years she had fought with Multiple Sclerosis but, never let it overcome her life.
Funeral services are scheduled to begin at 10:30 Friday August 24, 2012 at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta. Pastor Kent Hogan will be officiating. Burial will follow at Arlington Cemetery, Brookville. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
