Lee T. Cartwright, 86, of St. Marys, formerly of Wapakoneta, passed away at 10:02 a.m., Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Otterbein, St. Marys.  He was born on December 16, 1937 in Sidney, to Hugh E. and Mary M. "Molly" Schaub Cartwright who have preceded him in death.  On September 18, 1965, he married Lois A. Swisher, who survives in St. Marys.

Survivors also include their three children, Tom A. (Heather) Cartwright, of Dublin, Tim L. (Karen) Cartwright, of Tipp City, and Amy L. (Marc) Rile, of Cincinnati; 7 grandchildren, Reese Cartwright, Abigail, Adam, and Allison Cartwright, and Lexy, Quinn, and Blake Rile; one brother, Doug Cartwright, of Cincinnati; and an extended family of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by four siblings, Shirley Kahn, Linda Crusey, Mike Cartwright, and Phil Cartwright.

A 1955 graduate of Sidney High School, Lee then attended the Fort Wayne International Business College, graduating with an associate's degree in business.  Lee served in the United States Army from 1959-1961, before being honorably discharged.  He then began his working career, first at Monnier & Company, as an accountant, before becoming a comptroller for General Highway Express, Eagle Express, and Duff Trucking.  Lee finished his career at The Connection Company, based in Sidney, retiring in  2005 as the Vice President of Finance.

Lee was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, Sidney, where he was married and his children baptized, before becoming a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where he sang in the Resurrection Choir.  In his free time, Lee could be found tending to his vegetable garden or during football season, cheering on The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Bengals.  His family and friends will cherish many memories made while camping or playing cards, because Lee was a mean euchre player.  He also tinkered in videography, capturing many special moments, including a few weddings. People will remember Lee's singing voice and his love for singing big band tunes, especially Frank Sinatra.

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 8, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta.  Father Sean Wilson will officiate and interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.  Family and friends may visit from 12 - 2 p.m. Sunday at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta.  Memorial contributions may be made in Lee's memory to either Grand Lake Hospice or the Benevolent Fund at Otterbein, St. Marys.
