Laura L. Gierhart, 78, of Wapakoneta died at 8:25 a.m. Friday May 9, 2014 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
She was born on February 14, 1936 in Benton Township, PA to Frank B. & Lois B. (Hess) Yost who preceded her in death. On April 2, 1955 she married Rolland R. Gierhart and he passed away on March 9, 1998.
Survivors include 4 children; Jerri Rader, Terri Zofkie both of Wapakoneta, Gary (Terri) Gierhart of Cridersville and Cheryl (Marty) McDermitt of SC, 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and a brother Frank David Yost.
She was preceded in death by a sister Betty Chesbrough and two brothers Donald and Doyle Yost.
Laura was a 1954 graduate of Blume High School. When she was 50 years old she graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor's degree in Education. She worked at Rhodes State for 10 years as a lab coordinator in Early Childhood Education and substituted in Auglaize County schools and the Wapakoneta School District. She attended Harvest Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends, traveling and going on cruises. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday May 14, 2014 at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta. Pastor Gary Bragg will be officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery near Moulton. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the Wernle Children's Home or Harvest Baptist Church.
