Larry J. Stolzenburg, 74, of Wapakoneta died at 2:15 p.m. Monday November 3, 2014 at Wapakoneta Manor.
He was born on October 26, 1940 in Auglaize County to Henrich "Henry" & Alpha (Meyers) Stolzenburg who preceded him in death.
On August 3, 1998 he married Roberta A. Tangeman and she survives in Wapakoneta.
Survivors include a son; Phillip (Jennifer) (Stolzenburg) Detrick a daughter Patricia (Keith) (Stolzenburg) Wilcox both of TN, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a brother Don (Adella) Stolzenburg of Wapakoneta, a sister-in-law Carol Stolzenburg of St. Marys and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son; Larry James (Stolzenburg) Detrick, 2 brothers Vernon and Elden Stolzenburg and a sister Bernice Stolzenburg.
Larry was a 1958 graduate of Blume High School. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy for 2 years. He was employed for 16 years with the Wapakoneta Fire Department where he attained the rank of Lieutenant. He then went to work for Thermal Maintenance of Wapakoneta and Local #41 Heat & Frost Insulators, Ft. Wayne, IN. He was a member of Brands Lake Fishing Club where he was a bartender. He was also a member of the V.F.W. Post 8445, Amvets Post 333 and American Legion Post 330 all of Wapakoneta. He enjoyed fishing, muzzle loader hunting, building guns, golfing and making wine. He especially enjoyed working on his 1940 Ford pickup and 1968 Camaro.
Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday November 7, 2014 at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta. Pastor Adrian Sunday will be officiating. Burial will follow at Buckland Cemetery with military rites being performed by the VFW Post 8445. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
