Kevin J. Jones, 56, of Clyde, formerly of Wapakoneta died at 12:55 a.m. December 10, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his loving family following an extended illness.
He was born January 20, 1957 in Lima, OH to J. Stanley & Mildred (Arnett) Jones who survives in Wapakoneta. On September 22, 1979 he married Robin L. Rider who survives on Clyde, OH.
He is also survived by four children; Kevin M. Jones of Clyde, Rebecca (Cody) Peterson of Wapakoneta , Candy (Ben) Seela of Bowling Green, OH, and Kayla Miller of Freemont, OH, 3 grandchildren; Hannah Peterson, Andrew Miller, and a new granddaughter due in March, a sister Elaine (Ron) Mertz of Cridersville, a brother Darrell (Cindy) Jones of Indian Lake, 2 sister-in-laws Lisa (Larry) Fisher of Wapakoneta and Beth (Howard) Brockman of Hamilton, OH, 2 brother-in-laws Dan (Marie) Rider of Newtown Square, PA and Brett (Kellie) Rider of Spencerville, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law Ken and Sue Rider.
He was the Auditor of the First Citizens Banc Corp. Sandusky, OH and a member of the Risk Management Committee at the time of his death. He was also a member of the Northwest Ohio Auditors Associations which he helped find. In all, he worked in the banking industry for approximately 35 years including time as Auditor with Bank One and Metropolitan Bank Corp. and 19 years as an examiner with the Ohio Division of Financial Institutions. During his time as an examiner, Kevin was designated as an Accredited Financial Institutions Examiner. Kevin also served on the Board of Education of the Wapakoneta City Schools for several years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and served on various committees through the years. Kevin was a starter on the 1975 Wapakoneta Senior High School Men's Tennis team who are the only men's team to in the history of the school to win a Western Buckeye League Championship. Kevin is a life member of the Order of DeMolay and was a member and advisor to the Waupaugh Chapter. He was also a member of the Chivaric Knights of the Holy Order of the Fellow Soldiers of Jacque DeMolay. During his active years he served in many local and state offices and earned the highest honor of Chevalier.
Funeral services are scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. Saturday December 14, 2013 at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta. Pastor Becky Gray will be officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
