Kermit O. Warner, 78 of St. Marys, died at 3:20 p.m. October 27, 2009 at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
He was born June 16, 1931 to Oliver H. and Adelma M. (Fledderjohann) Warner in New Knoxville, who preceded him in death. On November 12, 1950 he married E. Arlene Phillips who survives.
He also survived by two daughters, Patricia (Thomas) Wittenbrink of Wapakoneta; Priscilla (David) Slusser of Celina; five grandchildren Christina (John) Oakley; Dale (Debra) Wittenbrink; Daniel (Nicole) Wittenbrink; Christine (Scott) Schroer; and Steven Slusser; four great-grandchildren Emma Wittenbrink; Caleb Wittenbrink; Maren Wittenbrink; and Bryson Schroer; one sister Ruth (Dan) Cuthbert of Goshen, IN; and an aunt Vivian Elshoff, of Florida.
Mr. Warner graduated from New Knoxville High School class of 1949. He was member of the 1947 New Knoxville Basketball Team that went to state playoffs. He had worked at Hoge Lumber Company and he retired from Goodyear in St. Marys after 40 years of service, where he had also played on the Goodyear Basketball Team. He was a 59 year member of Salem United Methodist Church, in Wapakoneta. He had also served as a trustee for the church, and was a member of the church dartball team for 25 years. He was also a member of the New Knoxville Historical Society. He enjoyed woodworking and especially travelling all over the United States and the world.
Funeral services are scheduled to be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday October 31, 2009 at Salem United Methodist Church. Pastor Shawn Morris will officiate. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta.
Friends may call from 4-9 Friday at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services 615 N. Dixie Hwy. Wapakoneta and one hour prior to the service.
