For 18 years, Joe worked at Lima State Hospital/Oakwood Forensic Center. Afterwards he was a jack of all trades and helper to many. Joe enjoyed the quiet moments of drinking coffee, having a cigarette and logging miles on his motorcycle. From spring until fall, he took great pride in keeping a well maintained yard, spending countless hours cutting the grass and cultivating the flowers in his landscaping.

Joe was an avid supporter of the benefits of adoption and also organ donation through Lifeline of Ohio, even becoming a donor himself. He was a friend of Bill W. and Dr. Bob. Although he had many struggles throughout life, with the help of friends who became family in the rooms of Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, Joe found sobriety eight years ago and began a new way of life.
