Joseph M. Burnett, 60, died at 7:36 p.m. June 12, 2009, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, following a valiant battle against cancer.
He was born July 22, 1948, in Kenton to Clifford M. and Elizabeth M. Moorehead Burnett, who preceded him in death. On Dec. 21, 1985, he married Katherine Lindsey, who survives.
Mr. Burnett retired April 30, 2009, from the city of Wapakoneta as an EPA lab technician. He graduated in 1971 from Ohio Northern University with a bachelor's of science degree in biology, and he earned a second B.S. from the DeVry Institute. He was a member of Crossroads Church of God, in Lima, where he served faithfully and was also involved in the light ministry. He was a loving servant of Jesus Christ every moment he lived until he arrived in heaven. He was especially a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors also include a daughter, Angela (Mike) Lubbers, of Springfield; three sons, Benjamin M. Burnett, of Cleveland, Nathan (Liz) Ward, of Orlando, Fla., and Jason (Jessica) Ward, of Richmond, Va.; seven grandchildren, Zach, Max, Alanna, Alex, Ruby, Ryan and Sophie; and two sisters, Donna L. Roberts, of Jerusalem, Israel, and Martha (Ron) Dills, of Findlay.
Service will begin at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Crossroads Church of God, 775 S. Thayer Road, Lima. Pastor Randy Bargerstock will officiate. Burial will be at a later date.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta.
