John H. Gaier, 83, of Wapakoneta, passed away 11:44 p.m. November, 15, 2024 at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center’s Burn Unit.  On October 14, 1941 he was born near Fort Loramie, to Lawrence & Elizabeth (Miller) Gaier, who have preceded him in death.  On October 1, 1966 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, McCartyville, he married Eileen M. Flaute, who survives.

Survivors also include their daughter, Carla & Tom Kohler, of Wapakoneta; two grandchildren, Claire Kohler, of Utah and Luke Kohler, of Buckland; one brother, Damen & Rosalie Gaier; two sister-in-laws, Esther Gaier and Wanda Gaier; and an extended family of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death four brothers, Robert Gaier, Dennis “Red” Gaier, Fredrick & Ruth Gaier and Norman Gaier.

John was fiercely dedicated to his family but also enjoyed time spent farming. He retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company and was also a carpenter, building homes and large buildings.  He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church.  Father Ethan Hoying will officiate and interment of his cremated remains will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.  Family and friends may visit from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Monday, November 25, 2024 at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Buckland Volunteer Fire Department or Maria Stein Relic Chapel.  Condolences may be expressed at www.schlosserfuneralhome.com
