John T. Stelzer, 68, of Wapakoneta died at 7:35 P.M. November 8,2010 at Lima Memorial Health System.
He was born September 2, 1942 in Lima, OH to Charles F. & Adelaide D. (Frazee) Stelzer who preceded him in death. On July 24, 1994 he married Peggy K. Purvis who survives.
Survivors also include his children; Corrinna Houston of Ft. Worth, TX, John T. (Robin) Stelzer Jr. of Columbus, OH, Sarah J. (Michael) Norstrom of Plano, TX, Gerald (Brenda) Keller of Mt. Sterling, KY, Lisa (Danny) Muncie of Winchester, KY, Greg (Loretta) Keller of Concord, NC, Billie Jo (Robert) Canafax, Clay City, KY, Regina (Rodney) Goodman of Georgetown, KY, Marissa Keller of Richmond, KY; one brother Charles F. (Sally) Stelzer Jr. of Sevierville, TN, and 3 sisters Elnora K. Horn, "Loretta" Ann (William) Voress, and "Gloria" Sue (John) Stein all of Lima; and 17 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister Margaret L. Bowsher and a former wife Doris (Brown) Stelzer of Columbus.
Mr. Stelzer was a 1960 graduate of Lima Senior High School. He served for three years in the U.S. Army 100th Engineer Company. He worked for BLH in Lima and retired from Kirk National Lease after 23 years of Service. He had also worked at the J.C. Penny Automotive Center as a mechanic. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Lima. He especially enjoyed gardening and restoring antiques.
Private graveside services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday November 11, 2010 at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima. Pastor Rob White will officiate. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 Wednesday at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Foundation.
