Jeff B. Mitchell, 68, of Wapakoneta passed away at 10:58 p.m. Sunday January 8, 2017 at St. Rita's Medical Center Impatient Hospice.
He was born on June 25, 1948 in Cleveland to William J. Mitchell & Mae E. (Skaggs) Denny who have preceded him in death. He was raised by his step-father Joseph Denny who also preceded him in death.
On August 15, 1981 he married Sandy K. Lhamon and she survives in Wapakoneta.
Survivors include four daughters and two sons; Rick (Erica) Rostorfer, Chad (Kendra) Mitchell, Julie Schneider, Kim Mitchell all of Wapakoneta, Mandy (Rob) Bradshaw of Elida, Trisha (Nick) Gatchel, of Bluffton, 18 grandchildren, Kayla, Collin and Kara Schneider,
Chloe, Kassidy and Corbin Mitchell, Jocelyn Rahrig, Brianna and Nicholas Grubb, Brandon Bradshaw,
Haleigh, Genevieve and Xandra Gatchel, Braeden Jordan,
Blayne Hill, Nathan (Morgan), Emma and Justin Rostorfer
two sisters and two brothers Karen Hackworth, Jim (Theresa) Denny, Taleene (Mike) Bartell all of Cleveland, Dennis Denny of Wapakoneta and several nieces and nephews.
Jeff quit school just before graduation in 1965 to enlist in the U.S. Army, where he served two tours of duty during the Viet Nam War from 1966-1971 as a machinist. After being Honorably Discharged he returned to Wapakoneta with his best friend, Ed Reynolds who passed away on March 28, 2016. Jeff was employed at J. B. Tool and retired from A.A.P after 20 years of service. He was a member of AmVets, American Legion and was a life member of the V.F.W. Post 8445. He enjoyed motorcycles, fishing and camping but most of all spending time with his grandchildren. He was a fan the Cleveland Indians, Browns and Cavaliers along with The Ohio State University.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday January 11, 2017 at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta. Private family services will be held prior to the visitation with military rites being performed by the V.F.W. Post 8445.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to St. Rita's Hospice.
