Janet M. Evans 79, of Spencerville went home to be with Jesus at 1:03 p.m. May 29, 2013, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, with her daughter and granddaughter at her side.
She was born October 28, 1933 in Lima, OH to Gerald and Amy (Kraft) Koenig who preceded her in death. On July 7, 1951 she married Max E. Evans and he passed away on December 18, 2008.
She is survived by two children; Mike & (Deborah) Evans of Spencerville and Jeri & (Paul) Frair of Hilliard, OH, six grandchildren Aabra Frair, Hallie Frair, Morgan Frair, Andrea & (Paul) Fleischman, Emily Evans and Jason Solomon, 3 great-granddaughters Kaelyn Parker, Savannah Velasquez, and Norah Fleischman.
Janet was preceded in death by a daughter Cindy Jo; a brother, Don Koenig; and a sister, Gerry Miller.
Janet was a 1951 graduate of Spencerville High School. During her early married life she worked at Ohio Decorative Products and the Tastee Freeze in Spencerville. Later she was an administrative assistant to Loren Jarvis and then at Excello Corporation. She retired from Lima Technical College in 2004 with over 30 years of service as their Records Clerk.
Janet thoroughly enjoyed the harness horse racing sport in which her husband and son have actively participated in over the past 42 years. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She especially enjoyed spending time with her puppy, Corky, and in her yard.
Funeral services are scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 3, 2013, at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta. Pastor Elaine Mikesell will be officiating. Burial will follow at Spencerville Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Spencerville United Church of Christ or to the charity of the donor's choice.
