James L. “Jim” Ridenour, 75, of Wapakoneta passed away at 8:54 p.m. Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima.
He was born on June 3, 1942 in Sugar Creek Township, Allen County to Harold & Dorothy (Brenneman) Ridenour who preceded him in death. On March 21, 1970 he married Carol J. Bobb and she survives in Wapakoneta.
Survivors include 2 children, Cindy (Tim) Appel of St. Louis, MO, Janet (Mark) Steinke of Wapakoneta; 5 grandchildren, Eric Fefferman, Ashley (Ryan) Place, Dr. Joshua (Randee) Steinke, Brandon (Lacey) Steinke, Christy (Brandon) Marchal and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Emily Ridenour.
Jim was a 1960 graduate of Gomer High School. He retired after 20 years of service with Pitney-Bowes as a service representative. He also owned and operated a lawn care service for 38 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church where he sang in the church choir. He was also a member of the Kiwanis Club where he had served as president. He enjoyed spending time out on his family farm, camping and time with his family. Most of all he enjoyed riding on his golf cart.
Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 10, 2017 at First United Methodist Church with Justin McCall officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the music program at either First United Methodist Church or Gomer Congregational Church.
