James E. "Jim" Myers, 70, of Wapakoneta died at 3:50 a.m. Saturday April 9, 2016 surrounded by his family at Van Wert Impatient Hospice Center, Van Wert.
He was born on January 1, 1946 in Moulton Township to Charles E. & Cleola M. (Schwarck) Myers who preceded him in death. On December 14, 1968 he married Nancy Hittepole who survives in Wapakoneta.
Survivors include their children; Heather Poynter, Eric "E.J." Myers, grandchildren Erika Myers, Shauni Poynter, Brittni Poytner, Rebecca Poynter, Kaitlynn Myers, Kylla Myers, great-grandchildren Braxten, Hayleigh, a brother Harold Myers of FL and 2 sisters-in-law Doris Myers of Celina and Jane Myers of Wapakoneta.
He was preceded in death by 2 brothers Charles L. Myers, Vernon E. (Jean) Myers, a sister Margie M. Lee, a nephew Paul Myers, a great-nephew Branden Myers and a great-granddaughter Emalynn.
Jim served in the U.S. Army from 1965-1968. He retired from the Wapakoneta Machine Company after 43 years of service. He owned Myers Photography taking wedding photos for over 25 years. He was a charter member of the Auglaize County Genealogical Society. He was also a member of the V.F.W. Post 8445, American Legion Post 330, NRA, Wapakoneta Eagles 691 and Indian Lake Moose Lodge 1533. He will always be remembered as a great family man.
The family would like to express their sincerest appreciation to the special caregivers Stacy & Andy Seipel and Kay and Mike Casebolt who assisted any time of day in the care of Jim.
Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday April 14, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moulton. Rev. David Coffin will officiate. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery with military rites being performed by the V.F.W. Post 8445. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Hope Hollow P.O. Box 141423 Columbus, OH 43214, James Cancer Institute or to Trinity Lutheran Church, Roof Project.
