James V. "Jim" Fogt, 70, of Wapakoneta, died at 5:17 A.M. July 28, 2009 at his residence.
He was born on September 23, 1938, in Shelby County to Roy C. and Mildred Cornell Fogt who preceded him in death. On July 29, 1967, he married Evelyn Mae Goudy who died January 25, 1995.
Mr. Fogt was a graduate of Blume High School class of 1956 and then attended Ohio Northern University graduating in 1960. He then served in the U.S. Army from October 2, 1961 until Septemer 30, 1967. He then retired from Ford Motor Company after 28 years of service as an inspector. He was a life member of AMVETS Post 333, V.F.W. Post 8445, American Legion Post 330, and U.A.W. Local Union 1616. He was also a member of the Eagles and a Charter Member of Tribute To A Generation WWII Memorial. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed gardening and working in his yard. He especially enjoyed helping other people in their time of need.
Survivors include a special friend Shirley Miller and daughter in law Jan Daum both of Wapakoneta; six grandchildren, Greg (Jackie Steinke) Daum, Scott Daum, Tim (LaZett) Daum, Michele Daum, and Tami Daum all of Wapakoneta, and Jason Rohrer of Minnesota; 14 great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; a brother in law Jack (Marlene) Goudy; and sister in law Grace Goudy both of Wapakoneta.
He was preceded in death by 3 sons Robert, Brad, and Timmy Joe Daum; daughter in law Connie Daum; 2 brothers John & Kale Fogt; 2 sisters Donna Genelle McClain and Mary Lee Stolzenburg; and 1 great-great-grandchild Jayden Herron.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 2 p.m. until time of the Memorial
Service Friday at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services 615 N. Dixie Hwy. Wapakoneta. Officiating will be Pastor Herb Wilker and burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Wapakoneta with military rites by Veterans of Foreign War Post 8445.
Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Rita's Hospice or to a Veterans Organization of Auglaize County.
