James C. “Jim” Fisher Sr., 80, of Wapakoneta, Oh passed away at 2:09 p.m., Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Mercy Health-St. Rita’s, Lima surrounded by his loving family.
Jim was born on October 19, 1938 in Lima, Oh. He was the son Joe & Reba (Purdy) Fisher of Bluffton who preceded him death. On June 7, 1991 he married Karol A. Morgan who survives in Wapakoneta.
Survivors include four children, Debbie (Kevin) Finn, Barbara McCrina, Jimmy (Chris) Fisher Jr., Teresa (Mark) Howell; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and a brother Herb O’Neill.
Jim was preceded in death by a brother Robert Fisher and son-in-law Kenneth McCrina.
Jim was a 1956 graduate of Bluffton High School. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he retired after 23 years as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. In 1982 he graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree in education. He spent 23 years as an educator in the Shawnee School System where he coached girl's softball and participated as a coach for the Quiz bowl. After retiring from Shawnee Schools he volunteered his time teaching mathematics at Grand Lake Christian Schools for over 8 years. Jim devoted much of his time to bookkeeping for the Shawnee boy's and girl's basketball teams. Jim was an avid Buckeyes fan as well as an accomplished bowler, golfer, fisherman and tennis player. He was an active member of Calvary Chapel Baptist Church, Minster. He was also member of the Eagles #2234 and Elks #54.
Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta with Pastor Robert Warrnick officiating and soloist Hope White, former elementary student. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta with military rites being performed by the V.F.W. Post 8445.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
