Jake (Jacob Anthony) Ulrey 31, of Ada, formerly of Wapakoneta died July 11, 2013 at Grant Medical Center, Columbus.
Jacob was born in Lima, OH, on December 12, 1981 at St Rita's Hospital, to Geoffrey Ulrey and Carolyn (Werling) Perez. He was confirmed at St Paul United Church of Christ, and had also attended church with his father at Harvest Baptist Church, Wapakoneta.
As young boy, Jacob played Optimist Youth Soccer, Rec League Baseball, and he played Football for the Wapak Warriors. A 2000 graduate of Wapakoneta HS, Jake participated in Wrestling, Track, Baseball, and Football since Middle School. Jake had a knack for being good at just about anything he ever did; he was an outstanding athlete, talented artist, and a hard worker, who loved his family. Anyone who knew him would say that Jake was kind hearted and had a unique sense of humor. Jacob was enrolled at Rhoades State, Lima, and employed at Olive Garden Restaurant, Lima, after transferring from the Findlay store. He had previously been employed as a driver at Johnston Supply, Wapakoneta, and an HVAC Service Technician and Sheet Metal Installer by Perry's Refrigeration, Lima, and Regal Plumbing & Heating Co., Sidney. Always grinning, friendly, and seeing humor in a bad situation, Jake was loved by many. In addition to hanging out with his family and friends, Jake enjoyed hunting, playing his Xbox, playing poker, and riding his motorcycle.
Jacob is survived by his father, Geoffrey and his mother Carolyn (Max) Perez; brother Joshua Ulrey of Ada, OH; sister Trisha Ulrey of Wapakoneta; sister Alecia (Schane) Moore of Delaware, OH; and brother Noah Ulrey, Poland, OH; three nephews, Johnathon Schlosser, Isaiah Pyles, and Gabriel Moore; his Paternal grandmother, Cora Ulrey of Holden; Maternal grandparents, Harold and Eileen Werling of Wapakoneta. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Nelson Ulrey, with whom Jacob had a very special bond, and his maternal grandmother, Nancy Smith, several uncles, aunts, and numerous cousins and many friends.
Services are scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta. Pastor Tony Dirr will be officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Wapakoneta. Friends may call from 2-4 and
6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
