Ivan E. Zwiebel
January 13, 1928 — June 22, 2017
Ivan Eugene Zwiebel, 89, of rural Wapakoneta, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 22, 2017, at 11:10 a.m., at Auglaize Acres. He was born January 13, 1928, in Santa Fe, Ohio, the son of Albert S. and Frieda M. (Wildermuth) Zwiebel who preceded him in death. On August 14, 1955, he married Velma L. Helmlinger and she survives.
He is survived by his children Gustave Zwiebel, Craig (Vicki) Zwiebel both of Wapakoneta, and Christina (Fred) Bodenmiller of Jackson Center. He is also survived by his grandchildren Colin (Meghan) Zwiebel of Ft. Wayne, IN, Tanner and Keaton Zwiebel both of Wapakoneta, Tiffany (fiancé Alex Miller) Bodenmiller of Sidney, Stefanie (Amir) Amiruzzaman of Kent, and Seth (Logan) Bodenmiller of DeGraff, and one great-grandson Aleo Amiruzzaman; a brother, Marvin (Jeannine) Zwiebel of Wapakoneta; sisters-in-law Clea Anna Helmlinger and Bernice Ruck, both of Wapakoneta; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ivan was preceded in death by brothers, Albert “Junior” Zwiebel and Leonard “Bill” Zwiebel; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Roger and Ethel Elsass; brothers-in-law Roger Helmlinger and Nelson Ruck.
Ivan graduated from Jackson Center High School Class of 1945. He served in the U.S. Army from December 1950 to December 1952 with the 101st Infantry, spending 18 months in Okinawa during the Korean Conflict.
Ivan worked at G.A. Wintzer & Son Co. in Wapakoneta for 34 years and farmed. He was a member of the Jackson Center American Legion for 64 years.
Ivan was a founding member of Christ The King Church in Jackson Center. He was a loving husband and father and enjoyed his children and grandchildren. All who loved Ivan will truly miss him.
Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at Christ The King Church with Pastor Philip Wethington officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Cemetery in Port Jefferson with military rites being performed by V.F.W. Post 8445. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday, June 26, 2017 at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta.
