Helen M. Jauert 91, of Wapakoneta died at 1:30 P.M. Monday April 8, 2013 at The Gardens of Wapakoneta.
She was born on March 22, 1922 in Spencerville, OH to Alfred and Leona (Mack) Sutton who preceded her in death.
She was married to Elmer Jauert for 57 years.
She is survived by two children; Doug and Myra Jauert of Columbus and Joerdis and Eric Fisher of Lima, 3 grandchildren Kurt Jauert, Scott Fisher, and Nicholas Jauert, and 5 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a grandson Ian Fisher.
Helen was raised on her family farm on Deep Cut Road and graduated from Spencerville High School. She was the oldest living Wapakoneta Citizen of the Year and was very active at St. Paul's United Church of Christ having directed youth choirs for 41 years and served as board member, president of the woman's guild and taught Sunday school. She was very active in local clubs, such as the Woman's Club, Irving Club, Elk's Emblem Club and the Historical Society. She helped organize the Wapakoneta Dollars for Scholars and served as president for 10 years. She was an honorary co-chairperson of the YMCA building drive, president of the Ohio Federation of Women's Clubs and held many positions on the Ohio and International Federation of Women's Clubs. When her children were young, she served as Cub Scout den mother and a Girl Scout leader. She especially loved spending time with her grandsons.
Helen's wishes were to have her body donated to the Ohio State University for anatomical donation.
There will be no visitation or services.
