Harold A. Johns, 79, of Wapakoneta formerly of Bellefontaine passed away at 5:45 a.m. Thursday November 10, 2016 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima following a brief illness with his loving wife at his side.
He was born in Logan County on January 20, 1937 to Virgil D. & Anna D. (McCalla) Johns who precede him in death. On October 21, 1966 he married Linda Yoder and she survives in Wapakoneta.
Survivors include two children; Roxanne (Alan) Hillard of DeGraff, Greg (Dawn) Johns of Wapakoneta, three grandchildren McKay Young, Trevor Hillard both of DeGraff, Scott (Amanda) Hayes of Wapakoneta, two great-grandchildren Katelyn & Scotty Hayes both of Wapakoneta, three brothers Joe Johns of Marion, David (Susan) Johns of Belle Center, Carl Johns of TX, a sister-in-law Denise Johns of Belle Center and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a brother Richard Johns.
Harold graduated in 1955 from Huntsville High School and then served with the National Guard from 1955-1964. He retired from Heidelberg-Baumfolder in Sidney. He was also a substitute custodian with the Wapakoneta City Schools since 2003. He was a member of Harvest Baptist Church where he served as an usher and a leader of the Awana groups. He enjoyed sports especially Ohio State University football and New England Patriots. He also enjoyed fishing with his brother. Harold was known by many people as he never met a stranger.
Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. Monday November 14, 2016 at Harvest Baptist Church, Wapakoneta where Pastor Tony Dirr will be officiating. Burial will follow at Huntsville Cemetery. Friends may call from 1-5 p.m. Sunday at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services and one hour prior to the service at the church.
