Faye Matson

Faye Matson, 81, of Wapakoneta passed away at 2:30 p.m. Saturday June 22, 2024 at her residence.

She was born on February 25, 1943 in Perry Township, Allen County to Hursel & Martha (Benny) Wireman who preceded her in death. On August 8, 1959, she married James L. Matson Sr. and he passed away on April 13, 2019.

Survivors include a son; James L. (Elona) Matson Jr. of Spencerville; two grandchildren Christopher R. Matson of Los Angeles, CA, Joycelyn (Jay) Ripa of GA; three great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law Linda Wireman; a brother Larry Wireman and sisters Mary (Bob) Evenbeck, Lavada (Dave) Elley.

She was preceded in death by her siblings Geraldine Warren, Ray Wireman, Don Wireman, Sandy Wireman and Craig Wireman.

Faye was a homemaker, an excellent cook and was the greatest wife and mother and a wonderful and loving grandmother to her grandchildren and great grandkids.  She was a member of Lima Eagles 370 and Cridersville Independent Baptist Church.  She loved listening to Elvis Presley and Everly Brothers along with eating at Kewpee and having her sandwich with mayonnaise and cheese.  She also enjoyed going for drives, going metal detecting with her husband and mowing the yard.

Funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m., Monday, July 1, 2024 at Cridersville Independent Baptist Church with Rev. Brandon Wireman officiating.  Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima.  Family and friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
