Eldon E. Saintignon, 84, of St. Marys, died at 11:39 A.M. Tuesday May 14, 2013 at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys, Ohio.
He was born in Houston, Ohio on February 23, 1929 to Delbert & Leona (Miller) Saintignon, who preceded him in death.
On July 3, 1948 he married Bonnie (Ayers) Saintignon, who survives in St. Marys.
Survivors also include two sons, Danny Saintignon & Doug (Paula) Saintignon, two daughters, Debra Drew & Diana Sudman, a brother, Alvin Saintignon, a sister, Lavern Fisher, 13 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Declan Saintignon, a sister, Retha Saintignon, 2 son-in-laws, John Sudman & Morey Drew, a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Saintignon, and 2 brother-in-laws, Leo Fisher & Robert Ayers.
Eldon and Bonnie will have been married for 65 years. Early in life he had worked on the railroad in Van Wert, OH, and then worked at Goodyear in St. Marys, retiring with 40 years of service. Eldon was a life member of the Eagles # 691. He was also a member of an amateur radio club in St. Marys; his call letters were KA8CNW and his radio handle was "Tonto." Eldon was also very appreciative of the services provided by the Auglaize County Council on Aging in St. Marys, and he was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Marys. He enjoyed woodworking, camping and craft shows.
Funeral services are scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM Tuesday at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta. Father Barry Stechschulte will be officiating. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery, Freyburg. Friends may call from 6-8 PM Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Auglaize County Council on Aging, St. Marys, Ohio.
