Eileen M. Sutherland

Eileen M. Sutherland, 97, of Waynesfield, passed away at 11:45 p.m., Sunday, May 5, 2024 at Otterbein Cridersville.

She was born on June 17, 1926 in Lima, to Ephraim and Frances (Hicks) Prowant, who have preceded her in death.  On June 9, 1946 she married Samuel Lewis Sutherland, who passed away on December 10, 2003.

Survivors include her five children, Joyce (Tom) McGraw of Phoenix, AZ, Larry (Jennifer) Sutherland of Waynesfield, Charles (Diane) Sutherland of Waynesfield, Amy (Jim) Joseph of Lima, and Heidi (Tom) Brookhart of Waynesfield; 16 grandchildren Amanda (Dan) Light, J.T. (Lindsey) McGraw, Tarl Sutherland, Joe (Dawn) Sutherland, Jessica (Dave) Mayer, Megan Sutherland (Andrea), Tyler (Marisa) Sutherland, Drew (Anita) Sutherland, Derrick (Amanda) Sutherland, Hilary (Eric) Werling, Bailey Joseph , Atlanta Joseph, Chelsea Joseph, Paul Brookhart, Troy Brookhart, and Mindi (Nolan) Mayhew; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; daughter-in-law Nancy Beidelschies and sister Bonnie Berthold.

Eileen was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Sutherland; two great-grandchildren Graidan Sutherland, Leona McGraw; two brothers, Charles, Dwight and two sisters Doris and Alma.

A 1944 graduate of Beaverdam High School, Eileen retired from Waynesfield-Goshen Schools, where she was a cook for 32 years.  She also worked at Walmart from 2004-2016.  She was a member of Waynesfield Baptist Church.  In her free time, Eileen enjoyed gardening, canning food, sewing, cooking and tending to her chickens.

Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2024 at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta with Rev. Todd Tenaglia officiating.  Interment will follow in Walnut Hill Cemetery, New Hampshire.  Family and friends may visit from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the services Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Waynesfield Foundation or Wayne Township Fire & Rescue in memory of Eileen.
