Donald E. Hegemier, 87, of Wapakoneta, died at 6:20 p.m. May 15, 2010, at St. Rita's Medical Center.
He was born May 6, 1923, in St. Marys to August & Esther Roediger Hegemier, who preceded him in death. On December 4, 1943, he married L. Marie Stoner, who survives in Wapakoneta.
He attended Memorial High School, St. Marys. He was a farmer for forty years and was the founder of Hegemier Construction and Auglaize Pallet. His hobby included restoring antique tractors. He was a member of the Buckeye Farm Antiques, Inc. and St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Wapakoneta.
Survivors also include, a daughter, Carol (Howard) Garber, of Wapakoneta; three sons, Rodney C. (Rhonda) Hegemier, of Wapakoneta, Steven (Mary) Hegemier, of Cridersville, and Dennis (Jill) Hegemier, of The Woodlands, TX; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two brothers, David (Virginia) Hegemier, of New Knoxville, and Rolland Hegemier, of St. Marys.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Roger and Bill Hegemier; and a grandson, Scott Hegemier.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Wapakoneta. The Rev. Mark Bauer will officiate. Burial will follow in Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Mary's. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May, 18, 2010 at Schlosser Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 615 N. Dixie Hwy., Wapakoneta.
