Denny E. Metzger

Denny E. Metzger, 83, of Wapakoneta, passed away at 11:18 p.m., Friday, December 9, 2022 at Otterbein Cridersville.

He was born on November 3, 1939 in Wapakoneta, OH to Norbert and Ruth (Lotridge) Metzger who preceded him in death.  On September 16, 1961 he married Becky Slusher and she passed away on November 20, 2022.

Survivors include 3 children Scott Metzger, Laurie (Jerry) Bowersock both of Wapakoneta, Chad (Mary) Metzger of Delaware; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and a sister Judy Hern.

He was preceded in death by 2 sisters Nancy Loomis, Sharon Metzger and a brother Joe Metzger.

Denny was a 1958 graduate of Blume High School where he was the captain of the football team.  He was a sausage maker/butcher for Bohrer and Moore for 30 years and then retired from Crown Control, New Bremen.  He was known by many and a friend to all and will be remembered as a very patient and non-judgmental person.  He was a very faithful and devoted Catholic and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where he served many hours in the adoration chapel.

Funeral service will begin a 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at Schlosser Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Wapakoneta with Rev. Michael Willig officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.  Family and friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.

Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
