Daniel L. "Dan" Schneider, 97, of Wapakoneta died at 3:32 a.m. Thursday August 14, 2014 at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
He was born on November 30, 1916 in Auglaize County to Michael & Catherine (Brunn) Schneider who preceded him in death. On November 25, 1937 he married Mary L. Truesdale and she passed away on December 26, 1979.
Survivors include a son; James (Gay) Schneider of Wapakoneta, 7 grandchildren Steve (Angie) Schneider, Todd Schneider, Ron (Melody) Schneider, Peg (Ron) Wireman, Vicki (Craig) Zwiebel, Cheri (Chad) Huston, Chris (Mike) Shroyer, 20 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by 3 sisters; Alma Schneider, Erma (Venard) Ballweg, Margret (Leo) Kohler and 6 brothers Urban (Ester) Schneider, Mike (Margret) Schneider, Raymond (Marie) Schneider, Frank (Wilma) Schneider, Isador (Edith) Schneider and Alonzo Schneider.
Dan was a lifelong farmer. He enjoyed farming and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Eagles #691.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday August 18, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta. Rev. Daniel Hunt will be officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 1 hour prior to the Mass at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta.
