Cora E. Ulrey, 89, of Waynesfield died at 12:50 a.m. Thursday February 19, 2015 at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima.
She was born on February 15, 1926 in Street, Somerset, England to Albert & Gladys (Badman) Tonkins who preceded her in death. On August 21, 1945 she married Nelson Ulrey and he passed away on September 20, 2010.
Survivors include 6 children; Carol Flinn of Waynesfield, Joyce (Judson) Daley of FL, Jennifer (Larry) Sutherland of Waynesfield, James (Barb) Ulrey of Ada, Geoffrey Ulrey of Wapakoneta, Frank (Deb) Ulrey of Lakeview, 21 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 3 brothers Kenneth (Betty) Tonkins, Trevor (Ivy) Tonkins, Alan Tonkins,4 sisters Peggy (Stan) Norton, Betty (Mick) Morgan, Minnie (Alan) Mitchell and Brenda (David) Shoemark all of England.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter Tina Flinn, a grandson Jacob Ulrey, a great-grandson Graidan Sutherland and a brother Dennis Tonkins.
Cora met her husband Nelson during WWII in England where they were married. In 1945 she came to the United States of America where she became a citizen. She was employed at Kenton Electric and Heartland of Indian Lake. She was a member of the Roundhead Methodist Church, New Hampshire Garden Club and the Waynesfield Eastern Star. She also a volunteered with the Lima Memorial Hospital Auxiliary for 20 years where she made hats for the newborn infants and with the Hardin Memorial Sewing Group where she made neck pillows. She sang for weddings, funerals and with her church. She enjoyed gardening, baking and knitting. She will be remembered as a wonderful person by all.
Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday February 23, 2015 at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta. Pastor Gloria Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow at Willow Branch Cemetery, Waynesfield. Friends may call from 2-6 p.m. Sunday and 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Hardin Memorial Sewing Group, Lima Memorial Hospital Auxiliary or to the Roundhead Methodist Church.
