Carolina L. "Cara" Meyer, 5, of Botkins, passed away at 5:02 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Dayton Children's Hospital. Cara was born April 17, 2009 in Sidney, to Joshua R. & Jessica J. (Schaub) Meyer who survive in Botkins.
Survivors also include her little brothers, Jace and Cale Meyer, at home; grandparents, Dan & Connie Schaub and Robert & Sharon Meyer; great-grandmothers, Flo Meyer and Rosie Mullen, all of Botkins; aunt and godmother,
Missy Meyer of Botkins; aunts, Keyna Maynard of Lima, Kecia & Leonard Schmerge of Wapakoneta, Kim & Gordon Lawrence, and Trisha Schaub, both of Botkins; godfather, Ryan Schmerge, of Columbus; and numerous cousins.
Cara was greeted in Heaven by her uncle, Bryan Schaub, great uncle Ron Mullen; and two great-grandfathers, Robert Meyer and Carlton Mullen.
Though her time here was all too short, Cara lived it to the fullest. She was a kindergartener at Botkins Elementary School, and Cara was also a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Botkins, were she attended CCD. She was currently in her second year of dance instruction with The Dance Studio in Wapakoneta, and was a member of the Botkins Swim Team. Cara participated in the Botkins Fun Run Club and Cheer Camp. She could be seen cheering during halftime for the Botkins Basketball Team. In 2013, she was honored to be nominated as Queen of the Shelby County Little Miss Apple of My Eye Pageant. Cara loved singing her own original songs and wrestling with her dad. When she grew up, Cara wanted to be a doctor. Her favorite cartoon was Doc McStuffins, who sang, "When the one that you love feels so far away; no matter what, it will be okay. All I have to do, when I'm feeling blue, is close my eyes and picture you."
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 16, 2015 at Immaculate Conception Church, Botkins. The Rev. Patrick Sloneker will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 615 N. Dixie Hwy., Wapakoneta. To remember her vibrant life, please consider wearing one of Cara's favorite colors: pink, purple, or blue.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made in Cara's memory to the Epilepsy Foundation of Western Ohio, 11 W. Monument Ave., Dayton, OH 45402-1293.
